Portland Meadows Horse Racing Track in Oregon
Located at 101 N. Schmeer Road in Portland, Oregon, Portland Meadows is the only major racetrack in the State. This great racetrack enjoys a number of exciting races during race season and delivers excellent race coverage of other races across the country via simulcast TV when the local racing season ends. The track is approximately one mile in length and oval in shape. The distance from the final turn is about 990 feet which makes for some exhilarating racing.
During the racing season the track is open from Wednesday through to Monday and admission is free though children under the age of seventeen must be accompanied by an adult. There is a $3 admission fee for the Turf Club on the third floor but for those who don’t like spending money, you can get free box seating for up to four people on the second floor. Parking is free and the track is usually open from about 9:00 am. There are ATM machines in the Simulcast Area, the Paddock Bar and the Club House for added patron convenience. You are not permitted to take photos or videos of the races whilst they are still in progress, but may use your equipment while the horses are heading towards the paddock or in the saddling arena, during parades, warm ups and after the race. For security reasons, patrons at Portland Meadows are not allowed to use electronic equipment for wagering purposes while on the facility.
Visitors may not bring food or beverages onto the property but there are a number of restaurants and bars to provide you with great food. The Portland Meadows Turf Club offers a great variety of tasty food while the Paddock Bar offers the opportunity to quench your thirst whilst enjoying the racing on simulcast TV.
