Montana Downs in Missoula offers Thoroughbred, Quarter horse and Paint racing during the month of August. The track is located at the Western Montana Fairgrounds, 1101 South Avenue, West Missoula in Montana. 2010 saw the revival of racing at Montana Downs in Missoula after a three year gap. It is hoped that the schedule will grow in the years to come as the horse racing track garners more support.
Currently admission to the racing at Montana Downs in Missoula is free with admission to the Western Montana Fairgrounds. Race programs may be purchased at the track or online.
Bettors visiting Montana Downs may place a minimum bet of $2.00. Wagering is limited to those of 18 years of age and older. Wagering is a no-fuss business with conveniently located mutuel windows, which open thirty minutes prior to post time for the first race. Bettors may place wagers for any of the scheduled races as early as they please, and wagering is closed at the opening of the starting gates of each race. As visitors are wagering against the other, the track simply acts as holder of all wagers during the running of the race. Montana Downs sees 80% of the money returned to bettors, whilst the remainder is distributed amongst Montana Downs, the Horsemen and the State of Montana. Types of Wagers permitted include: Win, Place, Show, Across the Board, Exacta, Quinella, Trifecta, Superfecta, Pick 3, Daily Double, Twin Trifecta and Pick 6.
