Evangeline Downs Horse Racing Track in Louisiana

Evangeline Downs Racetrack hosts two racing seasons a year. The thoroughbred season runs from March through to September and the quarter horse events are held from September to October. Races are typically held on Mondays and Thursdays to Saturdays. Evangeline Downs’ main dirt track is 7 furlongs and oval shaped. The final stretch is 400 yards. A turf course is planned for the future. Post times are around 6:45pm. On the 750 acre property of Evangeline Downs in Opelousas are 1,000 stables for race horses. A pond in the infield adds to the beauty of the environment. Evangeline Downs horse racing facilities provide more than enough space for patrons with 1,450 seats at the grandstand and clubhouse as well as 3,000 seats at the patio and apron.

Evangeline Downs race track has been called the “Birthplace of Legends” by many. This is a well-earned name as many of Louisiana’s top jockeys began their careers at this fantastic establishment.
