Santa Rosa Horse Racing Track in California
Many would agree that one of the best things about the Santa Rosa horseracing track is its great atmosphere. This is because Santa Rosa not only hosts the Sonoma County Fair, but because the Santa Rosa racetrack is part of the fair proceedings. Every year during the last week of July and the first week of August, this superb track hosts a number of great meets which offer ideal opportunities for both viewing and wagering.
Santa Rosa is not only home to the Sonoma County Fair, but also to ‘Wine Country Racing’. Horse racing is always a popular part of the fair festivities. And since the fair is home to one of the largest and most extravagant themed flower shows in the United States, you can be sure that you’ll see plenty of colour and creativity along with the races. To date there is one main track at the Sonoma County Fair grounds. It is one mile in length and oval in shape. It has two chutes – one for 6-furlong races and the other for 1-¼ mile races. It also has 1,022 stalls so there is plenty of place for the equine athletes. Races generally take place seven days a week for the duration of the Sonoma County Fair.
The Santa Rosa racetrack also has great wagering and dining facilities. The Turf Club offers a diverse range of dishes and beverages while the Jockey Club enjoys a more exclusive dining atmosphere. The Jockey Club also offers year-round pari-mutuel wagering on horse races. Admission is free to children under the age of six and affordable to those who are somewhat older. The Sonoma County Fair grounds are situated on Bennet Valley Road in Santa Rosa.
