Betfair Hollywood Park's Autumn Meet is set to provide plenty of horseracing action. Starting November 8, racing will take place four days a week – Thursdays through Sundays – with first post at 12:30, with the exception of Thanksgiving when racing will begin at 11:00. In addition to premium horseracing, Hollywood Park's Autumn Meet will include Hollywood Insider Handicapping Seminars, Pace Pals Handicapping Seminars, Pigskins and Ponies Contests, and the Railbird Club presented by TVG analyst Rich Perloff.
Among the Autumn Meet specials are free box seats every Thursday and Friday, while visitors aged 55 and over can enjoy an entrance fee discount on Thursdays. The Autumn Handicapping Challenge is a free contest to test punters skills on win, place and show bets, with the first round taking place on opening weekend and rounds two and three taking place on December 1 and December 15. Fiesta Fridays include Happy Hour Drink Specials and Mexican Munchies between 2 and 4 pm.
Highlights on the racing calendar include the $100,000 Real Quiet Stakes on November 10; the $100,000 Sharp Cat Stakes on November 11; the $75,000 On Trust Handicap on November 17; the $75,000 Cat's Cradle Handicap on November 18; the $100,000 Hollywood Prevue Stakes (Grade III) on November 22; Native Diver Stakes (Grade III) on December 1; Vernon O. Underwood Stakes (Grade III) on December 2; and the $500,000 Hollywood Starlet (Grade I) and $2000,000 Bayakoa Stakes (Grade II) – both on December 8.
The Turf Festival takes place November 23-25 and includes the Citation Handicap (Grade II); the Generous Stakes (Grade III); and the Misque Stakes (Grade III), as well as two Grade I race on Suday November 25 – the $250,000 Hollywood Derby and $250,000 The Matriarch.
The richest race of the meet, the $750,000 CashCall Futurity (Grade I), takes place on December 15. During its history, this event has featured many horses that have gone onto become Triple Crown winners, divisional champions and receive Horse of the Year honors, so it is a great event for spotting the champions of the future. The highlight of the closing day of the Betfair Hollywood Park autumn meet is the R200,000 King Glorious Stakes.
