Saratoga Springs is looking forward to hosting the best horse racing event this coming weekend as they get ready to close off their 2008 racing season. It has been a disappointing season for the Saratoga Racecourse, as bad weather has plagued them continuously, and they hope the weather will hold as Horse of the Year, Curlin, will take part in his first horse racing event at the Saratoga Springs Racecourse. The excitement can be felt in the air, as Saratoga Racecourse is nicknamed the “graveyard of champions”, with many great horses, such as Secretariat and Man O’War, tasting defeat at the racecourse.

Harness racing will be igniting the Du Quoin State Fair on Saturday, 30 August 2008. Setting records and winning races has been par for the course for this magnificent harness racing champion, and the victory of Dr. McDreamy over Southern Rocketop took everyone by surprise.

La Mesa Park was the first racetrack to be built in the state of New Mexico. It opened its doors to horse racing in Raton in 1946. Sadly, due to a dramatic slump in the horse racing industry, the racetrack was closed in 1992. Finally, on Monday, Horse Racing at Raton received the news that they had been hoping for, that their application for the last racing license in New Mexico had been approved. This decision, taken by the New Mexico Racing Commission, has brought the excitement of horse racing back to Raton.
