Thrill After Dark Lights Up Les Bois Park

Tuesday nights at Les Bois Park is Ladies Night. It is usually an evening filled with spectacular night horse racing, entertainment and fun. Last Tuesday evening, 17 June 2008, was no different as the ladies and their friends filled the stands in anticipation of their featured race, race number seven. The $12 550 Winning Colors Stakes was filled with a great line up of worthy contenders, and the mares and fillies entered into the race were waiting for their chance to shine at Les Bois Park.

The Winning Colors Stakes is a horse racing event for fillies and mares, three years old and older. All entrants must be Thoroughbreds and had to have been bred in Idaho. There were a few horses considered to be racing favorites for Tuesday night, but two stood out, namely Thrill After Dark and Petite Motion. The line-up for the Winning Colors Stakes was made up as follows: Thrill After Dark (Trainer: Dru Hall; Owner: GMS Racing), Petite Motion (Trainer: Gary Simpson; Owner: M.A.D. Racing), Candy Go (Trainer: Gerald Wehrli; Owner: Teton West Racing), She’s Baq (Trainer: Rod Hyde; Owner: Riverview Farm), I’ll Never Be King (Trainer: Mike Scudder; Owner: James & Judith Peterson), Cherry Ole (Trainer: Tim Elison; Co-Owner: Deidre Elison), Jest a Diva (Trainer: Teri Hunter; Owner: Sand Hill Stables), Opal’s Song (Trainer: Gordon Twilegar; Owner: Gordon Twilegar) and Wonder Buns (Trainer: Kenny McReynolds; Owner: Frank Edmunds).

It was to be the eight year old Thrill After Dark’s night, as she rounded the last corner and ran her way to victory, with Cherry Ole in second and Petite Motion in third. Co-owner, Stacy Moon, expressed her excitement over the win as Thrill After Dark is on her last campaign before being retired to stud. GMS Racing is made up of Jim Grigsby, Stacy Moon and Sam Stevenson, and will be directing Thrill After Dark either towards the Ginger Welch Stakes (19 July 2008) or Fillies and Mares Handicap (5 July 2008), before heading towards their main goal, the Idaho Cup. Thrill After Dark delivered a magnificent performance last Tuesday, using her experience, strength and first class abilities to outrun the rest of the field. She is most definitely a lady that will bow out from her racing career with style, grace and a memorable horse racing legacy.
